The great outdoors

One of Luke's favorite outdoor activities lately is unpotting my potted plants. It brings him great joy to pull them out and wave them in the air.

Hooray!

This past Sunday I needed to leave Sacrament during the closing song to help the primary president with something. I took Evie with me so she wouldn't cry if I left her behind. As Evie and I are approaching the doors to leave Sacrament meeting, Evie puts her hands up in the air and shouts, "Hooray!" Me and the people by the door had a good laugh.

Deep thoughts by Halle

"What if suckers were really tiny and only made for cats? That would be weird." Yes, Halle, that would be weird-almost as weird as you! I'm going to blame the cuckoo gene on Ryan to make myself feel better but I know I am just as guilty. Ryan says all her weird craziness stems from that time I dropped her on the sidewalk as a baby (I still feel bad about that).

Schemers

I have to admit I'm a little worried that the older girls are planning some horrible scheme to make it on the brava awards. I think they feel a little jilted that they haven't made a post. Halle keeps saying things like "Wow! Think if we did this_____. That would really be a brava". I'm hoping Addy's newly baptized state and the accountability thing will keep them from actually going through with any of their what-ifs. We'll see...

Happy birthday Halle!

We had birthday cake with Halle Friday night...Saturday morning Ryan caught Mia enjoying the rest...
And while we were talking about it and documenting it, she went to town on the top. I don't really like having leftover cake in the house anyway. Thanks, Mia. (For the record, she was on the counter getting into the cupboard sneaking Starbursts and happened upon the leftover cake-double bonus!)

I know this one doesn't look too bad but Brooke was on the phone with me while it happened. I was trying to frantically get out the door to Enrichment with 4 kids, 4 desserts and no husband (Ryan was out of town as he conveniently has been for the last 4 Enrichment nights and I'm the Enrichment leader so I have to go). It was a little bit chaotic trying to get everything ready and I turned around to find Luke digging his fingers into some Vaseline (we do have child-locks on our cupboards but the older girls forget to close the cupboards after getting stuff out). I was still talking to Brooke and washing his hands and then turned around to see Mia putting lots of hair product into her hands and hair to "make her hair pretty". Brooke was thoroughly enjoying all this the whole time, by the way. Not a bad one but a typical mom moment we have all experienced.

Christmas in April

The other day Evie and I were at Michael's picking up stuff for Cub Scout Pack Meeting. I was focused on trying to pick out the best pipe cleaners and I heard Evie excitedly shout out "Santa!" I looked up and she's pointing at this old man a few feet away who had a very fun white bushy beard and a red baseball hat on. The old man clearly had heard her and so we just smiled at each other and I pushed Evie away as she continued to point and shout "Santa! Santa!" I had a good laugh and tried to steer clear of "Santa" the rest of the time.
